We have been doing hormones for men for over 6 years. We have seen an interesting evolution during that time. When we first started, because hormones for men was so new, we were learning on a daily basis and revising our treatment protocol monthly. Men looking to replace hormones at that time were true pioneers. Many would tell us they had consulted their family doctor and been told:
The honest doctor: “ I don’t know anything about it”. The placating doctor: “You are getting older, accept it”. The uninformed doctor: “You are normal for your age”; or “That is dangerous, you will hurt yourself”; or “Testosterone causes prostate cancer”
We still hear these things, however, now most doctor accept the efficacy of hormones for men and most admit they do not know much about it.
Our concern is with the doctor who does not know much about hormones for men but regardless still provides the treatment. We are hearing stories that range from ineffective treatment to dangerous treatment.
If you want to use your family doctor and he/she knows uses a quality protocol, we would be the first to agree that is your best course of treatment. Anything less should be unacceptable.
Most people have heard the expression “In today’s fragmented and specialized health care environment, you must be an active participant in your own care or suffer the consequences”. The internet has been a great assist to inform consumers.
If you have questions about the approach your family doctor might use, give us a call. We will answer your questions and tell you what to look for in a good protocol. We promise not to try to sell you our program. If your family doctor would like to work through us and use our treatment protocol, that can be arranged.
More doctor stuff: Your doctor may send you to a specialist.
We do not use endocrinologist (doctors specializing in hormones) or urologist (doctors specializing in urinary problems) in our physicians network. Why?
Endocrinologists should know best how to do male hormones. Unfortunately, their practices are 90+% made up of women and diabetics. It is difficult and rare to find one who knows male hormone treatment protocols.
Urologists are high production doctors. They move quickly from room to room and will not take the time to use a good hormone treatment protocol– if they have one. Their standard treatment – at this time we have not seen an exception – is a 5mg testosterone patch and a prescription for Viagra. Because one patch is not enough to get most men to a testosterone level that is effective, we then get a call saying “I have an erection but have no desire to use it.
