What Causes Irritability in Men?
Irritable men syndrome is caused by a decline in low t levels and hormone imbalances in other male hormones such as thyroid, estrogen in men, DHEA in men and cortisol in men. As men age they lose testosterone in men and start to show symptoms of fatigue, depression in men, low sex drive and irrational episodes of emotion-mood swings. Unlike some animals that experience this phenomenon on a seasonal basis, men experience irritable male syndrome as a consequence of a steady decline in testosterone levels. This decline, which is also known as low t starts in a man’s late 20s. Healthy men in their 20s will have free testosterone levels of 200 to 350pg. Symptoms of low testosterone such as mood swings in men will start to appear when this level declines to about 130pg and worsens as levels continue to drop. Most men will reach the 130pg level sometime between ages 35 and 45.
